The placement of unofficial media microphones was used without media consent at the conference of the Tamil National People’s Front, which has caused a shock.
A few days ago, a media conference of the Tamil National People’s Front was held in Chunnagam, Jaffna. A media conference has been held using the media’s unofficial microphone without getting consent from those media’s to use their dedicated microphones.
An active member of the party has recorded a video using these unofficial microphones and posted it on social media.
They have prepared fake microphones similar to the official microphones of popular Sri Lankan media such as DAN TV, CAPITAL TV, HIRU NEWS, and SURIYAN FM and proceeded with the conference.
The party’s media spokesperson and lawyer, Nataraja Kandeepan, participated in the media conference and expressed his opinion. Many people raised their concerns and questioned the use of unofficial media microphones during the conference.
Also, many people are questioning on social media whether disciplinary action will be taken by party leader Gajendakumar Ponnambalam and secretary Gajendran against the party activist who tried to hold a media conference using unofficial microphones.
Many journalists have also expressed their concern that the placement of unofficial microphones is an act of defaming the work of journalists while they are working amidst various threats.
