A Gazette notification has been issued, setting Rs. 109 as the maximum amount a presidential candidate can spend per voter during the election campaign. This was confirmed by Commissioner General of Elections Saman Sri Ratnayake.
The new regulation, aimed at implementing campaign finance laws, limits spending for all upcoming national elections.
The Election Commission had previously consulted with various stakeholders to establish these spending limits and gather feedback on the implementation of the laws.
